Preparing for adulthood

Our setting prepares learners for adulthood at all stages of learning

Raising Aspirations and Preparing for the Future

  • We raise aspirations and expectations by encouraging learners to think about their future from an early age.
  • Our accessible curriculum promotes healthy lifestyles, informed choices, independence, community inclusion, and readiness for employment.
  • Learners are supported to pursue their interests through a wide range of extracurricular and enrichment opportunities.
  • We encourage parents and carers to take active steps at home to help prepare their child for learning.

Curriculum and Preparation for Adulthood

  • The curriculum is adapted as needed, with long-term planning that considers the four Preparation for Adulthood outcomes (education and employment; friends, relationships and community; independent living; health).
  • From an early stage and continuing post-16, our learners receive tailored careers advice and are supported to explore a range of career paths aligned with their needs, interests, and aspirations.
  • Learners are well-prepared for further education and employment through relevant work experience, access arrangements, interview preparation, and the development of social and communication skills.
