Measurable progress
Our leaders can demonstrate that learners with SEND make good or outstanding progress, relative to their starting points, across a broad range of subjects.
- Our senior leaders promote high aspirations for all pupils, including those with SEND, fostering an inclusive and ambitious school culture.
- Our progress of pupils with SEND is tracked and analysed, benchmarked against similar pupils nationally, with appropriate interventions implemented where needed.
- Our SENCo is trained in interpreting assessment data and has access to both internal and external progress measures for pupils on the SEND Register.
- Our Leaders analyse SEND progress data, identify trends, and use this information to guide whole-school and SEND-specific actions.
- Our progress for learners with SEND across year groups in a wide range of subjects is consistently strong and work scrutiny indicates that they achieve well.
- We evaluate progress made by learners with SEND each term. The assessment lead works in close collaboration with the SENCo and curriculum leaders to set ambitious targets based on the individual learner’s starting point.
- Teachers are trained in the use of finely graded assessment tools to track progress for pupils with significant learning and cognition needs, particularly where mainstream assessment systems are not appropriate or accurate.
