School Improvement
Our leaders are driving improvements for pupils with SEND.
- Our SENCo works closely with the headteacher and senior leadership team to develop a whole-school approach to ensure SEND priorities are integrated into strategic decision-making.
- Key priorities in our School Development Plan (SDP) are informed by our annual SEND review. The SDP outlines clear outcomes for pupils with SEND. Outcomes for pupils with SEND are evaluated as a key performance indicator within our SDP.
- We have a named governor with responsibility with SEND who has attended appropriate training and offers effective challenge and support to senior leaders.
- Our leaders track the progress of pupils with SEND using both national benchmarks and local authority data to identify gaps and inform interventions.
- Our SEND Annual report to the governors is a critical tool used to evaluate the impact of our provision for pupils with SEND. Key findings are highlighted within the School Improvement Plan (SIP) and School Development Plan (SDP), ensuring it remains a whole-school priority.
- Systems are in place to review staff and governor confidence and skills in supporting pupils with SEND, using surveys, audits, or performance reviews.
- We use a range of data sources (e.g. individual pupil reviews, staff, parent teacher surveys and data from SEND reviews and the SEND register to plan a targeted CPD cycle that addresses emerging needs and aligns with the SDP.
- A differentiated CPD programme is in place to support staff at all levels, including:
Early Career Teachers (ECTs)
Middle leaders
Teaching Assistants (TAs)
peer observations or coaching focused on inclusive practice
Our CPD themes include inclusive classroom strategies, adaptive teaching, and understanding specific needs (e.g. autism, ADHD, SEMH).
