Gross motor difficulties

Assessment, adaptations and intervention.

  • Use a developmental checklist to identify areas needing support. Follow up with:

    • Targeted adaptations and goals (e.g. throwing, hopping) to build coordination.

    • Gross motor activities (e.g. catching a ball) to strengthen large muscle groups

  • Ask learners about their physical and sensory needs to guide personalised adaptations and improve engagement.

  • Use appropriately sized tables and chairs so learners can sit with feet flat on the floor, promoting stability and posture.
Provide supports like Enbobs, wall backing, or height-adjustable desks to improve comfort and reduce strain during tasks.
