Environmental adjustments & adaptations.

  • Create acoustically effective classrooms. Reduced echoes and clearer sound, makes listening easier for all.

  • Choose seating that supports hearing needs e.g. seated near the front and centrally, /based on their strongest hearing side. This improves access to spoken information.

  • Minimise background noise to reduce auditory distractions. E.g. turn off unused electronics

  • Maintain good lighting and visual clarity. E.g. keeping blinds closed and lights on.

  • Add soft furnishings to improve acoustics e.g. use fabric-covered boards, chair leg covers, cushions, and other soft materials are used (where safe and permitted).
